Apple has officially launched the first Mac featuring the M4 chip, bringing a significant leap in performance to its iconic all-in-one desktop. This new release offers a substantial leap in performance and introduces a fresh palette of colors designed to make your desktop setup more personal and productive. Here’s a closer look at what makes the new iMac with M4 a standout as we head into 2025!

The highlight of the new iMac is the upgrade to the M4 chip that delivers a massive boost in power and efficiency. Apple claims the M4 chip delivers up to 1.7x faster performance in everyday productivity tasks and up to 2.1x faster processing in demanding workflows like photo editing and gaming, compared to the iMac with M1.

With a GPU built on Apple’s most advanced graphics architecture, the M4 chip offers smooth gameplay at double the frame rates seen on its M1 predecessor. Content creators will enjoy the (up to) 2.1x faster rendering times for tasks like applying complex filters and effects in apps like Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro.

The M4 also packs a Neural Engine that is over three times faster than the M1, making the new iMac the ultimate all-in-one machine for AI tasks. The increased speed promises a better experience across various applications and workflows, making the iMac a versatile powerhouse.

Alongside the M4, Apple introduces “Apple Intelligence,” a new layer of personal computing that leverages powerful AI models while maintaining privacy. With Apple Intelligence, users can utilize system-wide Writing Tools to rewrite, proofread, and summarize text in almost every app. Siri also gets an upgrade, with more contextual understanding and a redesigned interface that supports both typed and spoken requests.

For those interested in creativity, features like Image Playground and Genmoji allow for original image creation and custom emoji design. Apple will also be integrating ChatGPT into Siri and Writing Tools by December.

Apple continues to make its products visually appealing, offering the new iMac in seven new shades of colors: green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver. The front of each iMac features subtle shades that won’t distract from your work, while the back showcases bold, vibrant hues that stand out in any space.

The 24-inch 4.5K Retina display remains a highlight, and now users can opt for a new nano-texture glass to minimize glare without compromising image quality. This makes the iMac a versatile option for brightly lit rooms or storefronts.

The new iMac offers up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports for fast data transfer, connecting more accessories, and powering up to two 6K external displays. Enhanced with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, it ensures seamless wireless connectivity.

When it comes to video calls, Apple has equipped the iMac with a 12MP Center Stage camera featuring Desk View. This feature uses the camera’s wide-angle lens to show both the user and a top-down view of their desk—perfect for educators and DIY content creators.

The iMac with M4 is not just about performance and looks; it’s also designed with the environment in mind. The new model uses 100% recycled aluminum in the stand, recycled gold plating, tin soldering, and copper in its printed circuit boards. Apple has even designed the packaging to be entirely fiber-based, inching closer to its goal of eliminating plastic packaging by 2025.

Starting at $1,299, the new iMac is available for pre-order today and will hit Apple Stores and authorized resellers on November 8. The base model comes with an 8-core CPU and GPU, 16GB of unified memory, and a 256GB SSD. For those looking for a performance boost, an upgraded model with a 10-core CPU and GPU starts at $1,499.

This is pretty awesome. I also saw that the new iMac is the first Mac to support 120Hz 8K output. That is just incredible. I can't wait to see what we are in store for the rest of the week!
